This section describes how to modify the roles of workspace members.

Prerequisites

You need to join a workspace and have the Member Management permission in the workspace. For more information, see Workspace Members and Workspace Roles.

Steps

  1. Log in to the KubeSphere web console with a user who has Member Management permissions and enter your workspace.

  2. Click Workspace Settings > Workspace Members in the left navigation pane.

  3. To the right of the workspace member you want to operate on, click more, then select Modify Role.

  4. In the Modify Role dialog box, set the role for the workspace member, then click OK in the dropdown list.

    The KubeSphere platform provides the following built-in workspace roles:

    Role Description

    workspace-admin

    Workspace administrator, has full permissions within the workspace.

    workspace-self-provisioner

    Workspace self-provisioner, can create projects and view workspace settings within the workspace, and has management permissions for projects they create.

    workspace-viewer

    Workspace viewer, can view all resources within the workspace.

    workspace-regular

    Workspace regular user, only has permission to view workspace settings within the workspace. This role is typically granted to project members who do not require other workspace permissions.

    You can also change a workspace member’s role to a user-created workspace role.
